'Speaks volumes' - Murty raves about Rangers defender after asking to leave PL giants
Rangers manager Graeme Murty has been raving about recent loan signing Sean Goss for taking a huge gamble with his career and asking to leave Manchester United in search of first-team football.
Goss spent five years in the Academy at Old Trafford before making a £500,000 switch to QPR last January as he looked to take the next step in his career.
After swapping Old Trafford for Loftus Road, Goss made a handful of first-team appearances but has fallen down the pecking order and hasn’t made a single appearance this season for Ian Holloway’s side.
Murty admitted that walking away from Premier League giants Man United for first-team games at 21 “speaks volumes” about Goss’ character.
“He’s only 22 and I think it speaks volumes for the guy that he’s gone to Manchester United and asked to leave because he wanted to play football,” Murty said, as quoted by The Herald.
“He’s gone out seeking games and while it hasn’t quite worked out for the moment at QPR, he’s come to Rangers seeking football once more.
“I see lots of young people sitting on good money, comfortable with not playing football.
“Sean wanted to come here and go again. That speaks volumes for him.”
Goss is in the United States with the Gers at their warm weather training camp at the world-class IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida and is expected to make his first appearance for the Ibrox giants when they face Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro in the Florida Cup.
The 22-year-old midfielder is on loan at Ibrox until the end of the season and could make his competitive debut when the Light Blues travel to face Highland League minnows Fraserburgh in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on January 21st.
In other Rangers transfer news, the club are working on beating Celtic to the signing of a 22-year-old goal machine ripping up the league.
