Murty raves about Rangers quartet after comeback win v Corinthians
Rangers manager Graeme Murty has revealed he was delighted with the performance of a quartet of his players as they came from 2-0 down to beat Brazilian champions Corinthians 4-2 in the Florida Cup.
The Gers fell behind 2-0 at half-time before a double from Alfredo Morelos and goals from Andy Halliday and James Tavernier secured an impressive win for the Ibrox side.
Murty’s side have won both of their games in the Florida Cup and are in pole position to win the trophy in their first year of taking part.
The Gers boss revealed his delight with Morelos, Jamie Murphy, Daniel Candeias and Sean Goss given their lack of games together as they carved open the Brazilians with ease at times.
“(Morelos is) just a happy guy because he scores goals and and we wanted to get that from him,” Murty said in a video posted by the club’s official YouTube channel.
“I thought he was bright, he was lively but I thoguht all the attacking players were.
“The two guys who got him his goals – Murph had a really good interaction with Daniel Candeias – and Sean Goss’ delivery was really, really good.
“Overall I thought overall their general understanding, considering they haven’t played together a lot, was really good and really pleasing for me.”
The Ibrox side will now return to Scotland ahead of their return to domestic action on January 21st when they take on Highland League minnows Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup.
Despite both sides making a number of changes throughout the game, Rangers really took the game to their opponents in the second-half and will have given Murty some serious decisions to ponder before the Gers head to tiny Bellslea Park.
After taking on Fraserburgh, the Gers return to league action three days later when they welcome Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen to Ibrox.
In other Rangers transfer news, it has been reported that Gers are homing in on a top flight player who wants to move to the Ibrox.
