'Very, very enthusiastic' - Murty reveals what new signing will bring to Rangers

Ragers manager Graeme Murty has revealed Jimmy Nicholl’s “wealth of experience” will be a huge boost to the Gers after appointing the 61-year-old as his assistant manager until the end of the season.
Nicholl has a long, distinguished career in coaching and management both at club and international level.
The former Northern Ireland and Manchester United defender is also no stranger to the Ibrox giants after two spells as a player between 1983 and 1989.
Murty revealed having someone with so much experience will be a huge boost to his coaching staff and admitted “no one has a bad word to say” about Nicholl.
“We’ll, since I met and sat down with him and we talked about the game, we talked about his role and we talked about how he views footballers in general, it became clear that he has got a wealth of talent and he’s got a wealth of experience,” Murty said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“He’s someone who will be another set of eyes to help me out, and I thought that was important for myself and for JJ as well, that we have another sounding board in there and another person who can talk to the players and get around them.
“I’ve talked to a lot of people in the game and no one has a bad word to say about him, and I found him very open, very engaging and he’s very, very enthusiastic.
“He was desperate to come back and I think that’s another thing that’s a big bonus for us.”
Nicholl was most recently assistant manager to Paul Hartley at Championship side Falkirk as well as working with Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland squad at the 2016 European Championship and during the recently finished World Cup qualifying campaign.
The 61-year-old won 73 caps for the province before hanging up his boots and going into management with Raith Rovers where he famously won the Scottish League Cup against Celtic in 1994.
Nicholl was also in charge of the Fifers when they faced Bayern Munich in the UEFA Cup and famously led 1-0 at half-time in the Olympic Stadium in Munich.
