Rangers manager Graeme Murty has revealed he holds discussions with director of football Mark Allen “all the time” about transfers as he looks to improve the Ibrox squad.
Murty has already made two signings so far this month with Jamie Murphy and Sean Goss joining the Gers on season-long loan deals.
The Ibrox giants could still bring more players in before the transfer window closes at the end of the month as Murty tries to close the gap to Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
The 43-year-old admitted he’d had four agents on the phone as the transfer window heats up and players look for new clubs.
“Ins and outs are being discussed all the time. I had a conversation with Mark Allen this morning about certain things we have looked at,” Murty said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“It’s about enhancing and strengthening and making sure that we move forward.
“There is no point bringing people in that can’t actually enhance what I want to do and make us stronger in the areas that I can really strengthen.
“Until the end of January there is going to be loads of speculation. I’ve had four agents calling me this morning about such and such a player and saying ‘You need to phone me back’.
“Actually, do you know what, we’re on top of stuff and just because you don’t see anything happening just yet don’t ever think that we’re not ready to go.”
The Gers are currently in the United States and have spent the last few days training at the world-class IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida before facing Brazilian sides Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro in the Florida Cup.
Murty’s side will return to domestic action on January 21st when they travel north to face Highland League minnows Fraserburgh in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
Rangers’ first Scottish Premiership game back after the winter break is three days later when they host Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen at Ibrox knowing a win would take them into second place in the table ahead of the Dons.
In other Rangers transfer news, the club are working on beating Celtic to the signing of a 22-year-old goal machine ripping up the league.
