‘You’re my enemy’ – Yoane Wissa sends message to Bryan Mbeumo after he joins Man United

Bryan Mbeumo’s big-money move to Manchester United leaves Yoane Wissa as the main man at Brentford next season.

Wissa and Mbeumo were both in red-hot form throughout last season and racked up 39 Premier League goals and 13 assists between them, firing Thomas Frank‘s side to an impressive tenth-placed finish.

Frank’s departure to Tottenham this summer has triggered a series of exits from the Gtech Community Stadium, albeit replacements for Mark Flekken and skipper Christian Norgaard have already been found.

Mbeumo and Wissa had also attracted plenty of speculation from the Premier League’s biggest hitters, but Football Insider has revealed that Brentford won’t allow both of their star men to leave this summer.

Wissa had been heavily tipped to reunite with Frank at Tottenham, but the chances of such a move have now dropped significantly after Mbeumo’s long-waited move to Manchester United was confirmed.

Wissa farewells Mbeumo after Man United transfer is confirmed

Brentford had feared the worst as respective interest in Wissa and Mbeumo from Tottenham and Man United ramped up, after weeks of negotiations with the latter over the Cameroon winger’s price tag.

Man United eventually gave in to the Bees’ demands however and a £71million deal was finally agreed for Mbeumo on 18 July, as the 25-year-old travelled to Manchester for his medical over the weekend.

Mbeumo’s signing has now been announced by Man United as he waves farewell to Brentford, and Wissa posted on his Instagram story (22 July) to say an emotional goodbye to his long-time strike partner.

Wissa shared an image of the pair celebrating, and said: “We will talk about it in 10 years time.
Thank you boss – from friends to enemies.”

Brentford braced for unthinkable Wissa exit in nightmare scenario

Football Insider Verdict

Man United will be seen as the “enemy” by whoever they’re playing against next season, but Wissa’s message left no indication as to whether he’ll be facing the Red Devils while still a Brentford player.

Newcastle have joined Tottenham in the race to sign Wissa as speculation over star man Alexander Isak continues, but Brentford will still be desperate to keep the striker despite the potential of a bidding war.

Wissa has been tipped to join Frank in North London, but with a guaranteed £65m brought into their coffers by Mbeumo’s sale, Brentford are in a strong position to dig in their heels and retain their number 11.
