‘Mykhailo Mudryk update emerges amid updated Chelsea contract mystery’
Chelsea appear to have taken some action over the contract of Mykhailo Mudryk amid his ongoing absence for the club, and an update has emerged on how.
The winger has not played for Enzo Maresca‘s side since a UEFA Conference League clash with Heindenheim back in November.
Shortly after that game, it was revealed that Mudryk had tested positive for a banned substance during a random drugs test and he has not made an appearance for club or country since then.
Despite that, the club still appear to be making efforts to ensure things are in order with regards to the Ukrainian international’s situation.

Mykhailo Mudryk sees contract altered
Earlier this week, the FA published a document detailing payments in and out made by every club during the 12 months from 2 February 2024 to 3 February 2025.
With that publication including details about internal amendments to player contracts, a report from the Daily Mail has revealed that Chelsea have now updated the contract of Mudryk.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk man appeared in the document alongside teammates who have signed extensions, including Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Tyrique George, but the form Mudryk’s update was unclear.

The change made to the winger’s deal is not something that had previously been made public, and this update states the alteration is an administration change that does not pertain to be anything major although The Mail is “not at liberty” to outline exactly what it is.
As things stand, there are still more than six years remaining on Mudryk’s contract at Stamford Bridge, securing his future at Chelsea until the end of the 2030/31 season.

Chelsea staying on top of things
Football Insider Verdict
It still remains up in the air if and when the winger will return to action in the wake of this suspension following that positive test.
There have previously been suggestions that Maudryk could face a long ban if he is found guilty of intentionally taking a banned substance, although as yet it remains to be seen if he will be.
Amid that uncertainty, Chelsea did still include Mudryk in their Conference League squad for the second half of the season.
He has of course yet to play despite that, and time is now running out for him to do that with just a few games remaining until this campaign ends.
After so long out he would likely also need some considerable time to get back up to match fitness as well.
Even so, making these administrative changes to his contract from Chelsea may well be sensible, since it should ensure they are prepared legally and financially for any updates that may come around Mudryk.
