Myles Lewis-Skelly reacts as Arsenal announce Christian Norgaard signing

Myles Lewis-Skelly has shared his reaction to the news that Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Christian Norgaard from Brentford.

Norgaard has become the North Londoners’ second midfield addition this summer, after Arsenal signed Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.

Mikel Arteta has also facilitated the capture of former Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is set to serve as David Raya’s back up.

Meanwhile, Arsenal handed Lewis-Skelly a new deal, which was a vital piece of business for the Emirates Stadium side.

Amid Arteta’s efforts to strengthen his squad, Arsenal had been linked with Norgaard for a long time, and officially confirmed his signature on Thursday, 10 July.

After signing the 31-year-old, the Gunners shared on Instagram: “Bolstering the midfield. Great to have you with us, Christian.”

The North London outfit’s message attracted a like from Lewis-Skelly, showing the 18-year-old is keen to link up with the former Bees man.

Arteta must now bolster his attack

Football Insider verdict

There is no doubt that Norgaard’s arrival is an important one for the Gunners, who were previously left light in midfield following the departures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey, but have now plugged that gap by acquiring both Zubimendi and the ex-Brentford man.

But Zubimendi and Norgaard appear unlikely to prove the difference between Arsenal winning the Premier League title, or potentially finishing second for a fourth consecutive season.

However, Arteta can ensure that his side have what it takes to lift silverware by bring a prolific goalscorer to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Therefore, the Gunners faithful will not be impressed that Arsenal could miss out on Viktor Gyokeres, having reached a stumbling block in negotiations with his current club Sporting.

Gyokeres boasts the potential to have a similar effect on Arteta’s side to that of Erling Haaland’s impact at Manchester City, so failing to sign the 27-year-old may have devastating consequences.
