Myles Lewis-Skelly responds to new Ethan Nwaneri contract update at Arsenal
Myles Lewis-Skelly reacted to the latest news emerging around Ethan Nwaneri’s future at Arsenal as speculation swirls.
The 18-year-old attacker finally experienced a breakthrough season at the Emirates Stadium, notching nine goals and two assists in 37 appearances, acting as a support winger for Bukayo Saka.
Currently, his contract is set to expire next summer, and fans have been concerned about the young talent going elsewhere, but Football Insider understands that Arsenal are not prepared to sell Nwaneri.
London rivals, Chelsea, even joined the race for the player’s signature, but talks over a new deal for the academy graduate seem to have been positive over the last few weeks.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on the situation in North London, one which will have Mikel Arteta and the entire fanbase jumping for joy this summer.
Ethan Nwaneri to sign new terms at Arsenal
Taking to Instagram (16 July), the Italian transfer specialist wrote: “BREAKING: Arsenal have reached an agreement with Ethan Nwaneri over a new deal,” and Lewis-Skelly liked the post.
He continued: “After progress in talks reported last weekend, Nwaneri and his camp have now agreed to sign a new contract at the club with a formal review of documents as the final step.
“Ethan always gave priority to Arsenal despite interest from several clubs, and is set to put pen to paper soon. Made in Hale End,” with a key and padlock emoji.
Mikel Arteta spoilt for choice next season
Football Insider verdict
Arteta is under pressure at Arsenal to win more silverware, having fallen far behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race and failing to reach the Champions League final last season.
The Gunners have yet to lift a trophy since the 2019/20 FA Cup against Chelsea, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring a brace, and supporters are getting restless in North London.
Having come incredibly close the last two seasons, it seems that Arteta is only missing one final piece of the puzzle before his side can truly battle for domestic and European titles.

Of course, that piece was the striker position for the Gunners last season, with injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus leaving Mikel Merino to adapt from midfield to the centre-forward spot.
Football Insider understood earlier this month that Arsenal have a full agreement with Vitkor Gyokeres, who has become a star at Sporting CP over the last few seasons, despite some hurdles blocking a transfer.
Working with Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, and even Declan Rice will be a selling point for the Sweden international, and the Gunners will be extremely excited to welcome him to North London.
