Nacho Monreal drops Martin Zubimendi prediction in dramatic Arsenal message

Martin Zubimendi has finally completed his move to Arsenal, earning high praise from a former teammate and fellow Spaniard.

The Gunners have been busy this summer transfer window, with several arrivals and departures already confirmed.

Arsenal announced the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga on 1 July after activating his £5 million release clause from Chelsea, following his loan spell at Bournemouth.

With the contracts of Thomas Partey and Jorginho expiring last month, the club had been in search of a new defensive midfielder for some time, and they have now completed a deal.

Arsenal confirmed the signing of Zubimendi on 6 July, following months of speculation and a late attempt by Real Madrid to hijack the deal.

Since joining, the midfielder has been praised by a former player close to him, but also a player that Arsenal fans will remember for his time at the club.

Nacho Monreal backs former teammate Martin Zubimendi to be ‘the best’

Former Arsenal and Real Sociedad full-back Nacho Monreal has sent a heartfelt message and prediction to Martin Zubimendi following his move to the Gunners.

Monreal responded to a post quoting Zubimendi’s answer in a post-signing interview, where the midfielder mentioned Spanish Arsenal players and specifically referred to Monreal.

The former Arsenal left-back reposted the message on his story, adding: “You’ll become the best of all. 100%.”

Monreal became a cult hero at the Emirates, making 251 appearances after joining in 2013 and leaving six years later.

He won the FA Cup three times and played under both Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery before moving back to Spain in the summer of 2019 to join Real Sociedad.

During his time at Sociedad, Monreal played alongside Zubimendi and Mikel Merino, with the Gunners now forming a contingent of former Sociedad players at the club.

Arsenal agreed a deal to sign Zubimendi back in January but only completed the transfer after July for accounting reasons, despite the late attempt from Real Madrid to sign the midfielder.

Alongside the signings of Zubimendi and Kepa, Arteta’s side are pushing forward in the transfer market, with Football Insider revealing Arsenal are closing in on a deal for striker Viktor Gyokeres.

While Benjamin Sesko and Ollie Watkins had been on Arsenal’s shortlist, the club have now entered advanced talks to secure the Sporting striker.

Despite Man United’s interest in Gyokeres, he has made it clear he only wants to join Arsenal, who are now finalising a deal to bolster their attacking options.
