Nat Phillips makes Liverpool transfer decision – sources
Liverpool will accept offers for wantaway defender Nat Phillips in this summer’s transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Phillips wants to leave Anfield after falling down the pecking order and could push for a move away.
The 27-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City in the Championship, after being recalled from a disappointing spell with Celtic.
There is just one year remaining on his current contract which will expire in 2025.
Sources say Liverpool are looking to cash in on their fringe players this summer in an attempt to raise money to add to their transfer kitty.
Liverpool to accept permanent transfer offers for Nat Phillips
Phillips came through the Liverpool academy and has since made 29 appearances for the club, making his first-team debut for the club in 2020.
He played a key role for Jurgen Klopp’s side in 2019-20 when the squad was struck by a defensive injury crisis, but has never established himself as a regular option at Anfield.
He has spent time on loan at VFB Stuttgart, Bournemouth, Celtic and Cardiff in recent years and will look to finally seal a permanent move away this summer.
The emergence of Jarell Quansah has only pushed him further down the pecking order, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate the first-choice pairing.
Liverpool are also looking to sign a new centre-back this summer and had been interested in new Manchester United signing Leny Yoro.

Arne Slot’s side are yet to complete an incoming transfer in this window as the boss and his new-look recruitment team are happy with the state of their squad.
However, they will look to enter the market for the right player and will attempt to raise funds before splashing out on big deals.
