Nathan Collins and Kevin Schade react excitedly to confirmed Brentford news

Brentford players including Nathan Collins and Kevin Schade were among those to respond following a major announcement from the club.

The Bees wrapped up another solid Premier League season, finishing 10th after briefly pushing for European football.

However, their recent success appears to have triggered major changes and have come at a cost, with several key players linked with moves away.

Football Insider revealed that Manchester United are pushing hard to sign Bryan Mbeumo, with talks continuing “behind closed doors” after Brentford rejected an initial bid.

Adding to the uncertainty, Thomas Frank has stepped down as Brentford manager after seven years to take over at Tottenham and to replace Ange Postecoglou.

With speculation building over his successor, the club have now confirmed their decision, bringing clarity to supporters and players alike.

Brentford confirm Keith Andrews as new head coach

Football Insider revealed on 14 June that Brentford were set to appoint Keith Andrews as their new head coach, having worked as the club’s set-piece coach. That appointment was officially confirmed on 27 June via the club’s Instagram page.

Brentford players, including Collins and Schade, were among those to react to the news, both showing their support by liking the announcement post.

Brentford also held talks with assistant coach Justin Cochrane, but he ultimately followed Frank to Tottenham. Despite exploring options, the club have opted to stick with an internal appointment once again.

Andrews is yet to hold a senior managerial role since retiring from playing at MK Dons in 2015. His appointment has raised some eyebrows, with former Everton CEO Keith Wyness expressing doubts over Andrews’ inexperience at this level.

However, the move mirrors Brentford’s decision to promote Frank from within following Dean Smith’s departure in 2018 — a risk that paid off with great success.

While concerns continue around Andrews’ appointment and Mbeumo’s potential exit, Brentford could face further losses this summer.

Football Insider reported that Arsenal are pushing to sign Brentford captain Christian Norgaard, with negotiations progressing quickly this week.

Tottenham have also been linked with Norgaard, particularly following Frank’s arrival in North London, but Arsenal are currently leading the race for his signature.

With both Thomas Partey and Jorginho departing the Emirates this summer, Mikel Arteta is expected to strengthen his midfield options. Norgaard’s experience makes him an ideal candidate, but his potential departure would be a major blow for Brentford.
