Neal Maupay brutally mocked by airport in new eight-word message

Everton forward Neal Maupay has been on the receiving end of a vicious barb from none other than Liverpool John Lennon Airport after hitting out at the club.

The 28-year-old, who is technically still employed by the club after joining French side Marseille on loan with an obligation to buy over the summer, sent a brutal message to Everton after their 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday (December 29).

Maupay took to X, formally known as Twitter, to mock the Merseyside club, saying: “Whenever I’m having a bad day I just check the Everton score and smile.”

Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White bagged the two goals that inflicted the seventh defeat of Everton’s Premier League campaign, seeing them fall into 16th.

Everton are in danger of falling back into the relegation zone, sitting just two points above 18th-placed Ipswich following their shock 2-0 win over Chelsea on Monday (December 30).

Everton to deal with Neal Maupay internally after social media bust-up

According to Sky Sports, the club are well aware of the comments made online by Maupay and have started an internal investigation to decide on a punishment.

Maupay had a disastrous spell at the club after joining from Brighton back in 2022, starting 14 of his 32 appearances across all competitions, scoring just one goal, and providing two assists in his 1382 minutes of action.

His fortunes have fared slightly better since joining Marseille, starting nine of 12 games across all competitions, scoring two goals, and providing four assists in 680 minutes on the field.

There appears to be no love lost between Maupay and the people of the blue half of Liverpool, with John Lennon Airport having some fun at the striker’s expense.

The official account responded to a question on X, formally known as Twitter, about worse things than missing a flight by saying: “Not much. Maybe watching Neal Maupay play football.”

Dyche’s side will be hoping the new year brings a new beginning as they prepare to face in-form Bournemouth in their first game of 2025 on Saturday (December 4).

They will then face League One side Peterborough in their first FA Cup game of the season just five days later.
