Neco Williams may never play for Liverpool again after confirmed news – pundit

Neco Williams may never play for Liverpool again after completing a loan switch to Fulham on deadline day.

That is the view of former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 20-year-old’s long-term future at Anfield.

On Monday (31 December), the Reds confirmed Williams has moved to Craven Cottage on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Wales international has struggled for game time at club level, with Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of him in the pecking order.

Williams has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract on Merseyside.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his reaction to the full-back’s temporary exit, Campbell said:

“I think this could be the beginning of the end for Neco Williams and Liverpool.

“Look, he needs to play games. That is key for him at his age. It is all very well being backup at a big club but if you are not playing games you are going to struggle to make a name for yourself.

“He’s a talented boy and a Wales international. He needs to go and make a name for himself now. Fair play to him, he’s gone out on loan to get some games.

“In all honesty, I think this is the going to be the springboard for him leaving Liverpool.”

Williams made eight appearances for Liverpool in the first half of this season.

He has been capped by Wales 17 times.
