‘Never again’, ‘Not good enough’ – Rangers fans react to Cyriel Dessers display in 3-1 win over Kilmarnock

Many Rangers fans have berated Cyriel Dessers for yet another “terrible” performance in their win against Kilmarnock on Tuesday (2 January).

The Gers returned to winning ways after their crushing Old Firm defeat with a 3-1 victory over the fourth-placed Killies thanks to strikes from Ross McCausland, Abdallah Sima and Todd Cantwell.

But one man who failed to impress a huge portion of the fanbase was Dessers, who was given the starting spot by Philippe Clement over new highly-anticipated loanee Fabio Silva.

While the Dutchman did provide an excellent assist for McCausland’s opening goal in the 41st minute with a sweeping pass across the field, he struggled to make an impact on the game.

He managed just 15 accurate passes, no shots on target and no successful dribbles before being hauled off in the 71st minute by Clement so Silva could make his Rangers debut.

The 29-year-old has been a source of frustration since his reported £4.5million move in the summer for lacking cutting edge and taking far too long to shoot.

These issues were there to be seen once again against the Killies and many supporters just feel he is not the type of striker who should be leading the line for Rangers.

Fans have taken to social media to hound the forward out as being “simply not good enough”.
