‘You never know in football’ – PL goal machine talks about reported Tottenham interest
By Harvey Byrne
Bournemouth goal machine Josh King has admitted “you never know in football” in regards to his future, but has told he hopes to remain at the Cherries amid reported Tottenham interest.
The Mirror claimed in May that Spurs were eyeing the Bournemouth forward, who had scored a very impressive 16 goals in 36 Premier League matches last season.
He was key to helping the Cherries achieve their highest ever finish with a Premier League placing of ninth in the last campaign, as he finished as their top scorer with nine goals more than Junior Stanislas.
King’s form was reported to have caught the attention of Tottenham and the attacker has admitted that he was intrigued by the speculation, but also told that he’s looking forward to working with Eddie How again next season.
“I was focusing on the season and finishing it strongly,” told King, as quoted by the Bournemouth Echo.
“But I would be a liar if I said I hadn’t noticed it. It was in most papers in England and you have got people tagging you and sending you links here and there.
“I was intrigued even being mentioned in the same sentence as Spurs, a big team who play in the Champions League.
“It is the summer holiday now and I’ve learned so much from the gaffer here.
“You never know in football but, hopefully, I will be here next year and I’m looking forward to working with the gaffer because he’s been brilliant with me since the day I set foot on the training ground.”
Tottenham already boast their own goal machine with Premier League golden boot winner Harry Kane.
However, the England international was not able to help Spurs to their first Premier League trophy in the last campaign and Mauricio Pochettino will now be looking to strengthen his squad further.
King could certainly be on the Argentine’s radar, but he also still has three years remaining on his contract on the south coast.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs have placed a mega price tag on this 23-year-old who is a target for another Premier League team.
