'New contract', 'Bravo' - Leeds fans react as fringe player makes international debut

Leeds United fans have reacted on Twitter after Romario Vieira made his international debut for Guinea-Bissau on Friday.

Vieira, 19, came off the bench for his side in a friendly game after confirming earlier this week that he had been called up to the senior squad for the very first time.

The midfielder has been on the fringes of the Leeds first-team this season and is yet to make his debut with just two appearances on the bench against Hull and Cardiff.

He has been ever-present in Carlos Corberan’s Under-23s side though, who had been performing very well as of late.

Vieira has been one of the stand-outs and that is what no doubt caught the eye of the Guinea Bissau chiefs.

After the game, Vieira took to his personal Twitter account to say that he was “happy” to have made his international debut.

Leeds fans were quick to reply to Vieira’s tweet, with one saying that he deserves a new deal.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Vieira’s first-team brother Ronaldo Vieira is also eligible to play for Guinea-Bissau but has so far opted to represent England at youth level.

Guinea-Bissau are currently ranked 96th in the FIFA World Rankings, one of their highest positions since the rankings system began.

In other Leeds United news, fans have urged the club to hire this two-time Championship-winning manager in the summer.
