New farcical footage of Wilfried Nancy and Kieran Tierney incident emerges after Celtic loss vs St Mirren
Wilfried Nancy’s poor start to life as Celtic boss continued as his side were beaten 3-1 by St Mirren in the Scottish League Cup final.
Celtic found themselves a goal down inside two minutes on Sunday (14 December) as St Mirren captain Marcus Fraser nodded past Kasper Schmeichel from a corner.
Reo Hatate levelled the tie before the break, but a second-half brace by Jonah Agunya sealed a shock cup triumph for Stephen Robinson’s side.
Hoops boss Nancy has now lost each of his first three games in charge and is already under serious pressure to turn things around in an instant.
Some Celtic fans want Nancy sacked less than two weeks into his tenure after three poor performances, and his authority is being questioned after some new footage emerged from Sunday’s game.
Nancy tried to give instructions to Kieran Tierney before he was taken off
Tierney impressed against St Mirren as he provided a fine assist for Hatate’s goal, but his fitness issues caught up with him as he needed to be taken off in the 72nd minute.
Confusion reigned during his substitution, however, as Nancy was seen giving him instructions before coach Stevie Woods seemingly had to tell him the left-back was not playing on.
The incident was filmed and posted on X by a fan, who said: “Did anyone notice the rather farcical scenes as Kieran Tierney was subbed during today’s Celtic – St Mirren League Cup Final.
“It appeared Wilfried Nancy wanted to issue him with further instructions, before being told by Stevie Woods that he was offski.
“Suggests to me that he was either confused or someone else was pulling the strings. I’m sure something similar happened during the Roma game.“
Nancy is under pressure but will not be sacked anytime soon
Three losses after three games in charge means that many Celtic fans have already had enough of Nancy and want him gone, with the belief that he does not have what it takes to succeed at the club.
Lots of supporters have directed their anger at the board in recent times too, with some choosing to protest against their stewardship outside of Parkhead following their loss to St Mirren.

Despite his dismal start, Football Insider have revealed that Celtic have no intention of sacking Nancy anytime soon.
Sources say that their board are prepared to give him time to implement his ideas properly, but he clearly needs to turn things around quickly before pressure from the fans for him to be sacked is too much for the Hoops’ chiefs to ignore.
