New Goldson deal 'like a new signing' after reported Rangers breakthrough - Hutton
Alan Hutton has claimed it will be “like a new signing” for Rangers when Connor Goldson pens a new deal.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested other clubs will have been monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation at Ibrox.
As reported by the Daily Record (July 24th), Goldson has agreed terms of a new three-year contract after a breakthrough in talks with Ross Wilson.
The deal will reportedly make the centre-back among the top earners in the squad.
Goldson has a year left on the contract he signed in 2018.
He was ever-present in the Gers’ title-winning campaign last term.

As such, Hutton insisted it was hugely important the club tied him down for the foreseeable future.
“He’s so important, he’s an absolute rock,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“So to tie him down is absolutely fantastic. I’m pretty sure there would have been people monitoring that situation.
“It is like a new signing. I’m really happy that’s been done.
“He’s there for the long term and they can build around him. We know it’s going to be Connor Goldson plus one.
“He’s the guy, the main guy and you need that strong backbone in your team. I’m really happy that he’s staying.”
Goldson played every single minute in Rangers’ 56 games across all competitions last season.
He has a total of 162 appearances and 16 goals under his belt for the Glasgow giants.
Rangers kick off their title defence against Livingston on Saturday (July 31st).
