New Leicester City relegation prediction made by supercomputer after Southampton defeat
Leicester’s chances of being relegated from the Championship have increased after their shock defeat to Southampton on Tuesday night.
Leicester‘s campaign has not gone to plan at all so far, as they battle against a shock return to the third tier following 17 years away.
Marti Cifuentes was appointed as the Foxes’ new boss last summer, but he failed to help them mount a promotion challenge in the first half of the season.
Leicester’s chiefs dismissed Cifuentes last month, with the club sat 14th in the Championship, while they are now even further down the table in 21st after being deducted six points for financial irregularities.
Andy King has led the Foxes to three consecutive defeats since taking charge on an interim basis, and the likelihood of them dropping into League One is increasing after their latest shock loss.
Leicester now have a 5.5% chance of being relegated to League One
Leicester went 3-0 up before half-time on Tuesday night as Man City loanee Divine Mukasa scored his first goal for the club, while Patson Daka and Abdul Fatawu also netted.
They looked set to pull away from the bottom three with a vital win, but Southampton hit back to score four in the second half, as Shea Charles won it for the visitors in added time.
The Foxes have now lost five of their last six league games, and hover precariously above the drop zone on goal difference in 21st place.
Opta previously gave Leicester a 2.34 per cent chance of relegation before their last two losses, but that figure has now increased to 5.5 per cent.
They are being backed to finish 19th as it stands, with Blackburn Rovers given a 48.38 per cent chance of relegation in 22nd, alongside Oxford United in 23rd and Sheffield Wednesday in 24th.
Who are the leading contenders to be Leicester’s next manager?
Football Insider have revealed that interim boss King does not look set to be given the Leicester job permanently, which is no shock given their recent form.
Former England boss Gareth Southgate recently emerged as the bookies’ favourite to be Leicester’s next manager, and his arrival would certainly come as a surprise due to their current position in the table.

Ralph Hasenhuttl is now the favourite to be the next Foxes manager at odds of 2/1 with one of the UK’s leading bookmakers.
Other contenders include Gary Rowett (5/1), Russell Martin and Dean Smith (both 6/1), and Steven Gerrard (10/1).
