New tunnel footage doesn’t excuse Chelsea stars from what they did before Hull City clash
Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea side have been greeted with huge backlash following a completely avoidable situation against Hull City in the FA Cup.
Chelsea progressed to the fifth round with ease on Friday, 13 February, but other than Liam Delap‘s calamitous moment in front of goal, there was another major talking point at the MKM Stadium.
Before the Blues put four past their Championship opponents via Pedro Neto and Estevao, footage emerged of Hull City‘s mascots being blatantly ignored by the visiting players.
Unsurprisingly, the footage did not go down well with fans across the country, but most of all, those paying for their children to meet and greet the players for a special FA Cup game.
Chelsea supporters are trying to prove the media wrong over Hull City drama
Five days later, football supporters are still debating and arguing about the situation, and talkSPORT presenter Simon Jordan has been a surprise defender of the Chelsea stars.
For many mascots, it has likely ruined their experience of going to football games. You can see the excitement on all of the faces as the players come walking through the hallways.
Not one smile. Not a single handshake or greeting. Not one player acknowledged them standing there.
The Premier League giants are likely admit that this just isn’t a good look for the club. There is just no escaping that, but the travelling supporters are doing everything to prove a media “agenda” wrong.
New footage doesn’t take away from Chelsea’s previous failures
New footage doing the rounds on social media shows the players high-fiving one young fan, taking a video of the exchange, before they go out onto the pitch to face the Tigers.
While there was contact, there were very few smiles, nothing was said to the young supporter, and the absolute minimum was shown by the Premier League stars on such a special occasion.
This should not be seen as making up for the previous footage. It would have taken seconds out of their day to make their kid’s entire night, possibly creating an incredible memory for him.
Instead, it only reinforces what was seen in the first video, the one that was even shared by the official club account. The big-money stars have lost touch with what football means to the fans.
