Newcastle ace Sandro Tonali sends three-word message as contract agreement reached

Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali is continuing to keep tabs on his former club AC Milan.

Tonali joined Newcastle from AC Milan in 2023, and he has impressed for the club in the last two years despite serving a 10-month ban for breaching betting regulations.

The 25-year-old featured 45 times last term as the Magpies finished fifth in the top-flight, and has continued to be a key man this season with three assists in 22 appearances so far.

Surprise reports recently emerged that Tonali had secretly signed a new Newcastle contract until 2029 last year due to the club’s support of him during his ban.

Reports of Juventus’ interest in Tonali have been put to bed for the time being, but he clearly still has close ties to the Italian giants.

The Italy international made 130 appearances for Milan between 2020 and 2023, as he made his name as one of the world’s best in his position.

He has supported the club since childhood, and so has understandably kept an eye on them from Tyneside to maintain ties with family and those he played with at the San Siro.

Belgian winger Saelemaekers also joined Milan in 2020, and the pair featured alongside each other 90 times in their three years at the club as they helped them to a Serie A title win in 2022.

Saelemaekers has established himself as a key part of Milan’s squad once more this season after recent loans at Bologna and Roma, and the club announced on Monday that he had extended his contract until 2031 as a result.

The 26-year-old took to Instagram to pen an emotional statement following the extension, and Tonali replied with a supportive comment saying: “Well deserved bro” with a red heart emoji.

Tonali’s Newcastle teammate needs new deal next

While Tonali is tied down on Tyneside for the foreseeable future, uncertainty is looming around Tino Livramento‘s contract situation amid high-profile interest in his services.

Livramento does not want to sign fresh Newcastle terms until the end of the campaign as he assesses his future, which feels like a bad omen for his future at the club.

Football Insider have revealed that Man City remain front-runners to sign Livramento, with his future on Tyneside uncertain, while Arsenal and Man United are both keeping tabs on his availability.

It seems as if only a superb second half of the campaign for Eddie Howe’s side will see the England defender extend his stay at St James’ Park, which looks unlikely to happen as they currently linger around mid-table in the Premier League.
