‘Newcastle alerted to Noni Madueke deal with Chelsea’

Newcastle United are alive to the chance of signing winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The Magpies will be looking to strengthen their squad in the market, as they prepare for a return to the Champions League next season.

One position Newcastle are looking to strengthen is their right wing, where they largely relied on Jacob Murphy last season.

Now they have seemingly been given an opportunity to mount a raid on Chelsea, as they look to add to their depth in that area of the pitch.

Newcastle United sent Noni Madueke message

Last summer, Football Insider revealed that Newcastle had made an approach in signing Madueke from Chelsea.

However, no deal materialised with the England international ultimately remaining at Stamford Bridge for the 2024/25 season.

Even so, it is understood that Chelsea could accept an offer for Madueke during the current transfer window, which may present an opportunity for Eddie Howe’s side.

According to a new update from The i, the Magpies have been “alerted” to the fact the 23-year-old could be available for a move this summer.

It is stated that while Madueke was discussed for a potential move by Newcastle last summer, there was not a consensous over pursuing a deal for the winger.

The report also notes that whether or not they pursue a deal for the Chelsea star during the current window, may depend on their success with other targets.

Chelsea star an option for Eddie Howe to consider

Football Insider Verdict

The fact that a potential move for Madueke by Newcastle could be influenced by their pursuit of other targets suggests that the winger is not their number one target.

As a result, it would seem that any deal is unlikely to happen imminently, which ultimately seems like the right approach for the Magpies.

While Madueke is undoubtedly a talented player, he does lack consistency in terms of the impact he is able to make in the Premier League.

As a result, he may not be the most reliable option for Eddie Howe‘s side were they to bring him, at a time when they need the best signings they can get ahead of their return to the Champions League.

Newcastle have also been linked with Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga recently, so they do have other potential targets lined up.

With that in mind, the club’s pursuit of a new right winger is one that could take up a significant portion of the transfer window.
