Newcastle boss Eddie Howe to be ‘hot property’ for exit – ‘100% England manager’
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe will attract plenty of attention for new jobs if he guides his side to victory in the Carabao Cup final, Nicky Butt has said.
Howe will look to end the Magpies’ long wait for a major trophy on Sunday (16 March), when they head to Wembley to face Premier League leaders Liverpool in the final of the competition.
It has been an impressive season for the club, who are also competing for Champions League qualification once again.
That is despite the fact Newcastle were forced to sell players to avoid punishment over PSR back in the summer transfer window.
Now there is a growing belief that such success will lead to demand for Howe, both from clubs and his country.

Nicky Butt makes Eddie Howe prediction ahead of Carabao Cup final
Thomas Tuchel is set to name his first England squad this week, having taken over the role following the departure of Gareth Southgate last year.
Speaking recently, Simon Jordan suggested Howe will replace Tuchel as England manager when he is eventually sacked by Newcastle, something he feels will happen.
Newcastle last five games | Result |
Man City (A) | Lost 4-0 |
Nottingham Forest (H) | Won 4-3 |
Liverpool (A) | Lost 2-0 |
Brighton (H) | Lost 2-1 (AET) |
West Ham (A) | Won 1-0 |
Butt though, believes that the 47-year-old will not be short of offers from the likes of the Three Lions, particularly if he guides the Magpies to silverware this weekend.
After being asked on talkSPORT whether Howe should have been given the England job, the former Newcastle midfielder said: “He should have been for me yes.
“100% he should have been England manager. I don’t know if he got offered it or got to the table but if you’re looking at, for me, a passionate Englishman who’s technically unbelievable as well Eddie Howe screams out for you. I think if he wins this he’s becoming hot property.”
Newcastle United may lose Eddie Howe to England
Football Insider Verdict
It would be no surprise if Howe does eventually take charge of the Three Lions at some point in the future.
Other than Graham Potter at West Ham, the Newcastle boss is currently the only English manager in the Premier League.
Combine that with his growing success and reputation, which will only be boosted further if he does win the Carabao Cup, and he looks a very tempting option for the FA.
Football Insider also reported earlier this season that Howe would be keen to be England manager in the future.
As a result, while Newcastle will be desperate to claim silverware this weekend, they will no doubt be aware of the implications it could have over the future of one of their biggest assets in the form of Howe.
