Newcastle close to signing Trippier for ‘nothing’ after journalist’s new update – pundit
Kevin Campbell has claimed Newcastle United could be on the verge of “a real bargain” after details of Kieran Trippier’s proposed move to the club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the 31-year-old’s signing is “a no brainer” given his credentials at club and international level.
According to the Daily Mail‘s Craig Hope (4 January), the Magpies are closing in on the £12million signing of right-back from Atletico Madrid.

There is likely to be add-ons included in the deal which would see Trippier reunited with his former manager Eddie Howe.
The ex-Burnley and Tottenham defender is keen on a return to England after two-and-half years in La Liga.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the reported fee, Campbell said: “Wow, that’s a real bargain.
“It’s a no brainer at that price. An absolute no brainer.
“We are talking about an England international and a La Liga winner. He has gone abroad and has been successful. Not many players do that.
“He was also part of an England squad which finished runners up in the Euros. Newcastle would be getting a really experienced defender.
“I think, if it is just £12million, it’s a steal. Nothing.”

Trippier has made 18 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season.
In total he contributed 11 assists in 86 games for Diego Simeone’s side.
