Newcastle could accept Kieran Trippier offer after new approaches – sources

Newcastle United could still sell Kieran Trippier before the end of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The England regular starter still has one year left on his contract at Newcastle and has interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.

It is believed that new enquiries have been made since Euro 2024 ended last weekend.

The 33-year-old is highly regarded by Eddie Howe, who made him captain for most of last season in Jamaal Lascelles’ absence, and the player himself will feel he still has one big contract left in him.

As one of the club’s top earners, Newcastle are open to selling Trippier given their close call with PSR financial restrictions.

Howe is currently one of the front-runners to take the vacant England national team job after Gareth Southgate’s exit. Should the manager leave the club, Trippier could follow suit.

Trippier has been at the club since January 2022 and has made 92 appearances for Newcastle since joining.

Last season Trippier proved vital, ending the season as the club’s top Premier League assist-maker with ten in 28 appearances.

His versatility is a huge asset. The right-back was deployed as a left-back throughout England’s Euro 2024 campaign in place of the injured Luke Shaw.
