Newcastle could complete Carlos signing for 'great price' after Sky update today - pundit
Kevin Campbell has claimed £35million would be “a great price” for Newcastle United target and Sevilla defender Diego Carlos.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal striker, who delivered weekly punditry for La Liga TV last season, said the 28-year-old would “be a fan favourite” on Tyneside.
According to Sky Sports (20 January), the Magpies are closing in on the Brazil international with all parties “hopeful” a deal can be completed.
It is said that Eddie Howe’s side have offered £30million for the centre-back and have had their bid matched by another Premier League club.
Carlos has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract in Seville.
Fabrizio Romano claimed (19 January) the player has agreed personal terms on a five-year deal with Newcastle ahead of a potential move.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Carlos, Campbell said: “If they can get him for around £35million it’d be a great price.
“He is big, strong, aggressive, quick and will go straight into that starting XI. I think he’d be a fan favourite because he is a no-nonsense type of player.
“Let’s be honest, Newcastle need someone there who they can trust. He is that type of player.
“They have to do the deal. There can be no messing around now as we’re getting towards the end of January.
“If they have any chance of staying up they need to maximise the remaining days of this window.”
