Newcastle United and Everton have joined the hunt to sign Hull attacker Jarrod Bowen, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims that the Magpies and the Toffees have entered the race with Brighton and Burnley to sign Brown, 21, after sending scouts to watch the winger play against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup Fourth Round on Saturday.
Bowen scored his 12th goal of the season as Hull booked their spots in the draw for the next round, as well as supplying an assist.
The English attacker’s team-mate at the KCOM David Marshall has admitted that he is sure Bowen will make a move elsewhere in the future, but is hopeful that it does not come too soon.
“I am sure Jarrod will get a move but I don’t think this is the right time for him,’ said Marshall, as quoted by the Mail.
“He’s doing well, scoring goals and the rewards will come.”
Bowen has emerged into a real mainstay of the Hull side this season despite them being 21st in the table and struggling to fight off the threat of relegation.
He has made 29 appearances in all competitions and if he keeps up his form that he showed against Forest at the weekend, then there’s no doubt he will maintain his usual spot on the right wing for the rest of the campaign.
Football Insider verdict
Bowen is young, in great form and English. Newcastle and Everton would do great to get to sign the 21-year-old, but it does not seem likely that the KCOM flyer will be off anywhere this month. Hull are fighting the prospect of back-to-back relegation, which is unthinkable to Nigel Adkins and the Humberside club’s hierarchy. Bowen has perhaps been their best player and there is very little chance they would sell someone and potentially doom themselves for the drop. In the summer, if Hull do go down, Bowen may be a lot cheaper than he would to move this month. If Hull stay up, he is likely to not command a massive fee anyway due to the shortage of finances at the Yorkshire club. Bowen will surely make a move to the Premier League soon.
