Newcastle fans destroy ‘anonymous’ player who ‘looks like he’s never played football before’ after Aston Villa defeat
Newcastle United fans were furious with the performance of Yoane Wissa after Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa.
Wissa was lauded for his performance against PSV on Wednesday, but the striker was unable to make an impact on Sunday.
Emi Buendia found the opener for Villa with a wonderful strike, before Ollie Watkins put the seal on the three points in the final minutes.
Both Wissa and Nick Woltemade have been criticised this season, with neither player finding consistent form.
Wissa has only recently returned from injury, the striker forced to wait months to make his debut after suffering an injury instantly after completing his move from Brentford.
Newcastle United fans lambast Yoane Wissa
Newcastle signed Wissa off the back of a stunning Premier League season that had seen him score 19 goals for Brentford.
The Bees had deployed both the DR Congo international and Bryan Mbeumo up front, with the pair often capitalising on devastating counter attacks.
But Newcastle often face a very different style of defence, with visiting teams to St James’ Park, especially, situated deep inside their own half.

Chances were hard to come by on Sunday for Wissa, with the forward taking just one shot throughout the 90 minutes.
But the 29-year-old lost the vast majority of his duels, too, and enjoyed only five touches in the opposition’s box.
Newcastle fans reacted on social media, with one complaining that both Woltemade and Wissa had been “anonymous”.
“Wissa seems allergic to the ball,” said another Magpie, while one fan said: “Wissa may aswell not be there at all”.
One user said: “Big Nick did nowt and looks lost, Wissa looks like he’s never played football before.”
Even Alan Shearer was unimpressed by the performance, and he said: “Villa a really good side but we again been awful up top.”
Nick Woltemade fails to make any difference
It was not just Wissa failing to impress against Villa – Woltemade was equally unimpressive in the 28 minutes he played.
The German completed just five passes in his time on the pitch, failed to take a shot and had only one touch in the opposition’s penalty area. He also failed to win any of his duels.

With neither striker capable of performing up front, fans have wondered why Eddie Howe is not willing to play both together.
Instead, the manager appears wedded to his midfield trio, despite the cost to his attack.
