Newcastle fans rage at Eddie Howe after ‘worrying’ James Trafford update
Newcastle fans do not want to see their club sign James Trafford from Man City in January after he snubbed a move to Tyneside in the summer window.
James Trafford was wanted by Newcastle in the summer after he was part of a stellar Burnley backline that broke numerous Championship records last season.
Despite their interest, which stretched back another year prior, Trafford chose a return to Man City over joining Newcastle, but may well be regretting that decision so far this term.
Pep Guardiola chose to start him in Man City‘s first three league games of the season, but the arrival of high-profile stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma has pushed him down the pecking order to second-choice already.
The 23-year-old has not featured in a league game since 31 August, and looks set to leave the Etihad Stadium in the winter window, with the Magpies still interested in his services.

Trafford set to leave City with Newcastle chiefs supportive of January approach
Trafford’s departure from City looks “inevitable” in January, as he had reportedly not expected to be sitting on their bench this season when he joined from Burnley in July.
The 23-year-old has aims of making England‘s World Cup squad next summer, yet was dropped from Thomas Tuchel’s last squad for Newcastle stopper Nick Pope.
Football Insider recently revealed that Newcastle are planning to accelerate a January move for Trafford amid Pope’s poor form, with loanee Aaron Ramsdale favoured to start in recent games.
A new update from iNews reporter Mark Douglas states that returning for Trafford next month is an option that “has support” behind the scenes at St James’ Park.
Newcastle want to focus on their “goalkeeper succession plan”, and Trafford is believed to still be open to the move, but it is not one that supporters want to see anytime soon.
Newcastle fans urge club to avoid Trafford move in January
Trafford’s snub of the Magpies has not made him the most popular figure on Tyneside as it stands, while Ramsdale has impressed recently and there may not really be a need for them to sign a keeper in January.
Following this latest update, one fan said: “Trafford far too much of a gamble now when this season has showed us we need real quality immediately. Should be buying a real top keeper and cover for fullback.”
Another supporter said: “Worrying anyone thinks James Trafford is the answer,” while one replied: “Would rather we sign no one than Howe have the checkbook.”
Another said: “Haven’t read it but if that dream signing is Trafford (pictured) then I give up,” as one added: “Trafford is nee better than what we have.”
