Newcastle United fans have been left stunned after Tyneside flop Emmanuel Riviere scored on his Metz debut against title-chasing Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 on Friday.
Riviere, 27, was widely regarded as one of the worst purchases that Newcastle have made during the last decade after he scored just three goals in 31 appearances across all competitions for the club.

The French striker spent three years on the books at St. James’ Park but his form was so poor that he was either banished to the fringes of the squad before being shipped out on loan to Osasuna last term.
Riviere cost £6million when he signed from Monaco in 2014 and it would be fair to assume the Magpies didn’t pick up anywhere near that when they sold the drop-out to Metz in the summer.
It didn’t take long for him to make an impression with his new side though as on Friday night he scored a surprise equaliser for Metz against cash-rich PSG, who had stars such as Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Julian Draxler playing.
Newcastle fans lost their minds after the Tyneside flop scored against one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season.
One fan even said that the “club’s a joke” for the “mistake” of letting the Frenchman leave.
