‘Newcastle have already decided Bryan Mbeumo transfer – one obstacle left to clear’

Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo is fully expected to leave for pastures new this summer after his stunning season in the Premier League.

Newcastle are among the front-runners for the 25-year-old’s signature alongside English rivals Man United and Arsenal.

However, Football Insider revealed on Monday (5 May) that Liverpool have cooled their interest in £60million-rated Mbeumo after extending Mohamed Salah’s contract.

He has scored 18 goals and notched eight assists in 39 appearances across all competitions this term.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed Newcastle have a “straightforward” run at Mbeumo this summer, on one condition.

Newcastle ready to sign Mbeumo this summer, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Newcastle will sign Mbeumo if they qualify for the Champions League.

The Magpies currently sit fourth in the Premier League table with three games of this season yet to play.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think there’s no doubt Newcastle want to get Mbeumo.

“They’ve been tracking him for a couple of seasons now, and he’d fit very well into their squad along with Isak.

“With Mbeumo on the right and Isak through the middle – that’s a great prospect.

“I think it’s a straightforward equation. If they qualify for the Champions League, they’ll get him.

“I really do think it’s that straightforward. They’re looking pretty likely to qualify right now and the run-in is favourable for them.

“If they pull it off, I expect the deal to go through.”

Newcastle prepare swoop for Bayern Munich star

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 27 April that Newcastle are also working on a deal to sign Kim-Min Jae from Bayern Munich this summer.

Howe is keen to strengthen his squad at St. James’ Park this summer ahead of a potential Champions League campaign.

Football Insider sources have been told that the 28-year-old would be available for around £40million.
