‘Newcastle have just announced double-your-money summer deal’
Newcastle have just announced a pre-season trip to Singapore off the back of a successful 2024-25 campaign which isn’t finished yet.
The Magpies will play Arsenal in late July at Singapore’s National Stadium – and are widely reported to be also travelling to South Korea before the 2025-26 season kicks off.
Newcastle could be preparing for Champions League football with the tour – as Eddie Howe’s side are still in contention for a top-five finish this term.
They already lifted the League Cup last month to end a drought of 70 years without a major honour.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has revealed how much the trip to Singapore could be worth to Newcastle.
Newcastle could bank £5m for Arsenal clash, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Newcastle could bank £5million – likely double what they have earned for pre-season games in the past.
The Magpies visited Japan in pre-season last term and launched their third kit while taking the trip.
Wyness insisted Newcastle are trying to claim a position worldwide as “one of the top clubs at the elite level”.
Position | Team | Played | Points | GD |
2 | Arsenal | 32 | 63 | 30 |
3 | Nottingham Forest | 32 | 57 | 13 |
4 | Newcastle | 31 | 56 | 16 |
5 | Man City | 32 | 55 | 20 |
6 | Chelsea | 32 | 54 | 17 |
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It’s a step up for Newcastle.
“They’re trying to claim their position as one of the top clubs at the elite level.
“I think the number we’re looking at for the Singapore trip could be around £5million, which is probably double anything they’ve done before.
“It’s also about exposure, and cementing your position for international fans when you play over there.
“New technologies will have to be employed to reach the fanbases.
“It’s an interesting move for Newcastle. Historically, they’ve had a big fanbase in North America.
“They haven’t had a big Asian fanbase, but they did own a Chinese club in the past. It’s now all about creating the Gen Z base overseas and giving those fans a chance to see the stars off the back of a trophy win.”

Newcastle prepare move for England international
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 10 April that Newcastle are readying a “concrete” move to sign Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.
The Magpies are in the market for a new number one shot-stopper despite Nick Pope’s impressive return from an extended injury absence.
Newcastle regard the England goalkeeper as a “huge” talent capable of being the long-term number one at St James’ Park, sources say.
