Newcastle in advanced Joelinton talks after PiF ‘actively’ intervene – sources
Newcastle United are in advanced talks with Joelinton over a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.
The Magpies are now growing in confidence that they will keep hold of the 27-year-old Brazilian after initial fears that he could leave in the summer window.
Sources have told Football Insider that Newcastle’s Saudi Arabian owners – PiF – actively stepped up contract talks to help accelerate negotiations.
Senior figures at St James’ Park are now ready to meet Joelinton’s demands and tie him down to a new deal.
His current deal in Tyneside is set to expire in the summer of 2025.
PiF intervene to accelerate Joelinton deal at Newcastle United
As revealed by Football Insider, Joelinton would prefer to stay in the Premier League if his contract talks at Newcastle collapse.
The Brazil international is currently sidelined with a groin injury but he has grown to become an integral part of Eddie Howe’s squad.
Howe has publicly stated that he wants Joelinton to stay and sign a new long-term deal: “I’m determined for him to stay. I love him as a person and a player, so that would be my wish, for him to sign a long-term contract.”

Newcastle have only won three times in the seven games missed by Joelinton through injury.
He has made 180 total appearances for the club and scored 25 times since joining in 2019 for a £40million fee.
