Newcastle United were forced to share the points with Brighton after a dour 0-0 draw at St James’ Park on Saturday.

The Seagulls had come out as victors in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, with Tomer Hemed’s goal securing a 1-0 victory for the south coast club, in what was the first meeting since both secured automatic promotion from the Championship last season.

However there was a lack of attacking threat shown by either side, with the goalkeepers only made to make a handful of saves between them.

The Magpies came into Saturday’s clash having seen a spirited performance end in a narrow 1-0 defeat to runaway league leaders Manchester City, Raheem Sterling’s goal all that separated the two sides despite the potency of the attacking options at Pep Guardiola’s disposal.

It was a result which left the north east side sitting 15th in the top flight table, three points and four places behind Saturday’s opponents, and just one point above those in the relegation zone.

So who shone for the Magpies at St James’ Park and who let the Toon Army down?
