Newcastle player ratings v Everton: Under fire star shines with 8/10 display

COMMENT

Newcastle United saw Karl Darlow’s goalkeeping howler hand Everton a 1-0 win at St James’ Park on Wednesday night.

The former Nottingham Forest shot stopper spilled the ball at the feet of Wayne Rooney in the first half for the Toffee to poke home from close range, condemning the Magpies to their eighth game without a win.

The Magpies came into the clash on a seven game winless run, having picked up just a solitary point from a possible 21, with the 2-2 draw against West Brom coming among six defeats to their Premier League rivals.

Everton meanwhile came into the clash off the back of three games without defeat, with former Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce now at the helm.

So who shone at St James’ Park and who let the Toon Army down?
