Newcastle player ratings in loss v Leicester: Speed machine shines with 7/10 display:

Newcastle United saw their dreadful run of form continue after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday.

The Magpies went into the clash at St James’ Park on a six game winless run, which had seen Rafael Benitez and his men suffer five defeats and pick up just one point thanks to a draw against West Brom.

However they started the brighter of the sides on Tyneside, with the returning Joselu netting after just four minutes from Dwight Gayle’s cut back.

Leicester grew in confidence and found themselves 2-1 up shortly in the second half, with Riyad Mahrez and Demarai Gray scoring to give the visitors the advantage.

The fleet footed Dwight Gayle scored what Newcastle would have hoped to have been a comeback goal, but the game was decided through an own goal from Ayoze Perez, poking past Karl Darlow with just four minutes to play.
