‘Newcastle ready £12m Marcus Rashford move as Barcelona deal blocked’
Newcastle United could be set to make a £12million move to sign Marcus Rashford after a switch to Barcelona has been blocked.
The England international spent the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa after making the move to Villa Park in January.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a strong start to life with Unai Emery’s side after registering four goals and six assists in 17 appearances.
However, he missed the final few games of the season after picking up a hamstring injury.
Rashford recorded 11 goals and nine assists in total across the 2024-25 season, but his future looks set to lie away from Old Trafford.
The forward’s preferred destination is believed to be Barcelona after he’s long been linked with a move to the Spanish giants.
The La Liga side are yet to make a move for Rashford this summer and are now closing in on a deal to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.
Barcelona’s well-documented financial issues will likely prevent them from signing both Rashford and Williams this summer.

Man United’s Marcus Rashford stance revealed after Newcastle swoop
Rashford is believed to be keen on playing Champions League football next season, leaving very few clubs in the market to sign him.
However, Newcastle are in that category after securing their return to the competition for the 2025-26 campaign.
The Sun reported on 18 June the Tyneside club are ready to offer Rashford the “perfect platform” to reignite his career at St James’ Park.
The newspaper said Newcastle would prefer a year-long loan deal for the forward.
Football Insider revealed on 4 June Man United are keen to sell Rashford this summer, but they have not ruled out another loan spell.
He is believed to be on around £325,000 a week at Old Trafford, with his contract set to run until 2028.
Villa are understood to have paid around 75 per cent of Rashford’s wages during his recent loan spell at Villa Park.
If Newcastle were to agree the same terms, that would set them back £243,750 a week or just under £12.7million a year.

Newcastle make Alexander Isak sale decision
Eddie Howe’s side are believed to be targeting a move for Rashford to provide another option to Alexander Isak rather than replace him.
The Sweden international has been linked with various top clubs following his performances at St James’ Park in recent years.
Newcastle are expected to price rivals out of a move for Isak as they look to keep hold of their star forward this summer.
The 25-year-old registered 27 goals and six assists in 42 appearances in the 2024-25 season, helping his side finish fifth in the Premier League and win the Carabao Cup.
