Newcastle ready new Calvert-Lewin move after extensive talks – sources

Newcastle United will reignite a move for Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin if he becomes a free agent next summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Magpies swooped for the 27-year-old forward in the summer but failed to agree a deal with the Toffees after extensive talks.

But Calvert-Lewin is out of contract at the end of the 2024-25 campaign and is yet to agree a new deal with Everton.

It is believed Newcastle have not been put off by the forward’s poor form in front of goal so far this term.

He has hit two goals and notched one assist in 18 games across all competitions this season.

Calvert-Lewin was dropped for on-loan forward Armando Broja for the 2-0 home defeat against Nottingham Forest on Sunday (29 December).

The 27-year-old scored eight goals and notched three assists across 38 games in all competitions last season.

His best return for a season came in the 2020-21 campaign, when he hit 21 goals in 39 games.

Newcastle still want Calvert-Lewin despite poor form in 2024-25

The striker has had hit struggles with injury but has not missed a single Premier League game this season.

Alexander Isak is currently Newcastle’s number one forward and has hit 12 goals in 19 games this season.
