‘Newcastle ready to sign multiple wonderkids’ with one deal already agreed
Newcastle United have historically struggled to attract top talent to Tyneside but that has changed since the club’s Saudi-backed takeover in 2021.
The Magpies have won the League Cup under Eddie Howe this term and are well placed to secure Champions League qualification.
Newcastle have placed a big emphasis on improving young talent in recent years, with Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall going on to play for England after moves to St James’ Park.
Meanwhile, Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh have been sold for big fees after honing their craft with the Magpies.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has shared his reaction with a new signing from Spain looking like the next player off the production line.
Cordero deal is ‘great sign for Newcastle’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness has insisted the signing of 18-year-old talent Antonio Cordero is a “great sign for Newcastle”, who he claimed are becoming a “much more desirable destination for young talent”.
The teenager currently plays for Spanish second-tier side Malaga and has notched 13 goal contributions in 33 games this term.
Wyness insisted there is a “bigger picture emerging at Newcastle” as they continue their development into an elite Premier League side.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “This kid’s apparently a real talent.
“He’s not up there with Lamine Yamal, but he’s certainly a talent.
“There’s a bigger picture emerging at Newcastle. They’ve got new facilities on the way and a lot of movement about adding other sports franchises.
“They’ve got a lot going on, and it’s becoming a much more desirable destination for young talent.
“I think we’ll see a lot more talent heading there in the next few years. They couldn’t do that before.
“It’s a change. Players used to stay in London and commute up there. Now, all the players are very happy with the environment. The whole mood is moving.
“For this kid to give his thumbs up and make the move, it’s a great sign for Newcastle.”

Newcastle prepare move for England international
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed earlier this month (10 April) that Newcastle are readying a “concrete” move to sign Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.
The Magpies are in the market for a new number one shot-stopper despite Nick Pope’s impressive return from an extended injury absence.
Newcastle regard the England goalkeeper as a “huge” talent capable of being the long-term number one at St James’ Park, sources say.
