‘Newcastle snub Man City approach for Tino Livramento transfer’
Man City have been emphatically knocked back in their attempts to sign Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento.
Pep Guardiola‘s side endured a hugely disappointing season by their standards during the 2024/25 campaign, failing to win any major silverware.
As a result, Man City had been tipped to invest heavily during the summer transfer market, in an attempt to get their fortunes back on track.
They have already gone some way to doing that, signing the likes of Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Rejnders, Rayan Cherki and Marcus Bettinelli during the pre-Club World Cup transfer window.
However, not every pursuit of a target they have embarked on this summer has proven to be a successful one.

Man City unsuccessful in right-back pursuit
Earlier this season, it was suggested that Newcastle were preparing themselves for interest in Livramento from Man City, which now appears to have materialised.
According to a new update from The i, Pep Guardiola’s side have made tentative efforts to sign the 22-year-old.
Those though, are said to have been met with a resounding message from the Magpies, making it clear that the right-back is unavailable this summer.
Livramento still has three year remaining on his contract at Newcastle, securing his future at St James’ Park until the end of the 2027/28 season.
For their, Man City are apparently still in the market for a right-back as they continue their efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

Football Insider Verdict
Livramento enjoyed an excellent season for Newcastle in 2024/25, helping his side to win the League Cup and qualify for the Champions League.
As a result, they will not want to lose him now, both because of his quality, and their need to maintain depth in the squad with European football to add to their schedule.
With that in mind this certainly looks like being a positive move for the club to make, which will give manager Eddie Howe a sense he is being backed.
It has already been suggested that Newcastle will not sell top scorer Alexander Isak this summer despite speculation around his future.
The fact that is now being backed up with this update suggests the club intent to take a similarly strong stance with other key members of their squad.
That ought to put them in a good position to build on the success of the most recent campaign, meaning there ought to be plenty of excitement around St James’ Park right now.
