Newcastle stars’ agents to push for summer transfers – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness expects most of Newcastle United’s star players to stay this summer despite their agents likely pushing for moves.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the majority of the squad are “very happy” playing under Eddie Howe.
Newcastle finished the season in seventh on the back of their 4-2 victory over Brentford on the final day of the campaign.
That means they will play in the Europa Conference League next season unless Manchester United can overcome Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
There has been interest in some of the Magpies’ key players in recent months, with Alexander Isak receiving the majority of the attention following his 25 goals this campaign.
Football Insider previously revealed Arsenal have been told a £100million bid for the 24-year-old striker would likely be accepted.
Newcastle stars could stay despite interest
Wyness believes the Newcastle squad is reasonably settled at this moment in time, but he admitted you can never factor in the role of players’ agents ahead of the transfer window reopening next month.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I expect most players to stay.
“Agents are always agitating if they can get players away for great deals.
“But from what I’m hearing, the majority of players there are very happy. I think Eddie Howe has done a great job of creating that team feeling.
“There is a great feeling on Tyneside, so I think the players are enjoying the atmosphere and are all happy there.

“I think they can see potential and they will hopefully have European football to push on for next season.
“They are reasonably settled or as best as you can be without agents agitating. You can never factor for that.
“But overall, I think they are as solid as they can be right now.”
