Newcastle striker sidelined until next month in crushing blow – sources
Newcastle striker Callum Wilson will be sidelined until next month with a back injury that’s kept him out since the start of the season, sources have told Football Insider.
The club’s medical staff say Wilson, 32, is on course to return in October, potentially after the next international break.
It’s a major blow for Eddie Howe’s side given first-choice striker Alexander Isak, 24, was forced off at half-time in their 2-1 Premier League win over Wolves on Sunday (September 15).
He is a major doubt for the team’s away trip to Fulham on Saturday (September 21), which could leave Newcastle without an orthodox front man.
Newcastle to be without Callum Wilson until next month
Wilson hasn’t completed a full 90 minutes for the Tynesiders since their 3-2 away victory over Nottingham Forest in February.
The striker has started to find some form at the back end of last season, scoring in two consecutive games against Sheffield United and Burnley.

Despite continued injury problems, Wilson managed to score nine goals and provide one assist in just 985 minutes of Premier League football last season.
Newcastle currently sit in third place, two points behind league leaders Man City, having won three and drawn one of their opening four games.
