Newcastle supporters blast star who was ‘horrible’ vs Wolves

Newcastle United supporters have slammed Harvey Barnes for his poor performance in their 1-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday.

Eddie Howe’s men earned their first victory of the Premier League season on 13 September, thanks to Nick Woltemade’s debut goal.

Before defeating Wolves at St James’ Park, Newcastle had endured a defeat to Liverpool, either side of 0-0 draws with Aston Villa and Leeds United.

Meanwhile, striker Woltemade successfully provided the firepower for his new club, after former star man Alexander Isak joined Liverpool.

Now that they have earned their maiden Premier League win of the campaign, the Magpies can focus on their upcoming Champions League clash with La Liga giants Barcelona on Thursday, 18 September.

Howe’s side successfully navigated the challenges posed by Jacob Ramsey’s injury blow and Anthony Gordon’s suspension to defeat Wolves.

Meanwhile, Vitor Pereira’s men have now suffered four consecutive defeats in the Premier League, and must bounce back when they host newly promoted Leeds on Saturday, 20 September.

During the summer transfer window, Wolves lost Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, and have subsequently lacked firepower.

Contrastingly, Newcastle will be delighted to have earned their first victory since Isak, who scored 23 Premier League goals last term, joined Liverpool.

While Howe’s men have earned momentum from their 1-0 win over Wolves, Barcelona will pose an entirely different challenge on 18 September.

However, Newcastle will be more confident of earning positive results in their upcoming trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League and their Carabao Cup clash with League One outfit Bradford City.

Newcastle fans slam Harvey Barnes for Wolves showing

While Newcastle enjoyed a win over Wolves, Barnes failed to impress the St James’ Park faithful on 13 September, before being replaced by summer signing Anthony Elanga on 80 minutes.

As per FotMob, the 27-year-old winger failed to create a chance, as none of his five crosses found their intended target.

One Newcastle supporter wrote on X: “Can someone please teach Harvey Barnes to stop leaning back when he shoots at goal?

Another fan added: “I can’t deny that Harvey Barnes can have a positive impact on the team and has scored some vital goals, my issue is that when he’s not doing that he’s pretty much ineffective. Very frustrating to watch sometimes.”
