Newcastle tipped to beat West Ham to Lingard loan-to-buy deal after Kieran Maguire claim – pundit
Newcastle United could sign Jesse Lingard on loan with a view to a permanent move upon Premier League survival.
That is the view of former Spurs and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about “the only way” the Magpies can get a deal done for the 28-year-old in January.
According to The Times (4 December), Newcastle have made Lingard their transfer priority in the upcoming window.

The relegation-threatened side are prepared to offer the England star a contract that will make him the highest earner in the club’s history.
Lingard‘s contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of next June.
Kieran Maguire has told Football Insider that Newcastle are well placed to sign Lingard as they can “easily outbid” their rivals in contract negotiations.
When asked for his assessment of the Newcastle’s chances, Robinson told Football Insider: “The only way they could sign Lingard would be on loan.
“It would not be attractive to him otherwise. A player of his quality could play in the top half of the Premier League. He will have no shortage of takers in January. We know West Ham will be right up there.

“If there is an option for him to go to Newcastle, it would be on a six-month loan with a view to a permanent if they stayed in the Premier League.
“I cannot imagine Jesse Lingard signing a long-term contract with a club who have the potential to be relegated.”
