Finance guru: Newcastle are hiring ‘outstanding’ business mastermind amid ‘incredible’ Staveley reveal
Newcastle United will hire a well-rounded executive with “outstanding” business acumen as their chief executive.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Magpies’ ongoing hunt for a new CEO.
Lee Charnley left the position shortly after the £305million Saudi PIF-led takeover in October last year.

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi have been the public faces of the new regime so far but are on the lookout for a dedicated CEO.
Staveley told The Athletic last Saturday (26 February) they have had “the most incredible candidates come forward” for the position.
Plumley outlined his predictions of what the Newcastle supremos will look for in a prospective chief executive.
“They’re going to be the main-day-today face of the club,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“You have got to be understanding of the operational programme. You have also got to align with the direction of travel the owners want to take.
“I’m sticking my neck out, but I’m thinking they will want someone who is experienced in the football industry.
“That wider skill set is important. There are so many jobs in football nowadays that you have to understand.
“They will also have to have outstanding business acumen and knowledge of international and commercial markets.”

Dan Ashworth is set to become the new regime’s first sporting director once compensation is agreed with his old club Brighton.
He will see the operations of Eddie Howe, who replaced Steve Bruce in the dugout in November and has masterminded a dramatic upswing in results.
