Newcastle tipped to seal 'amazing' Ramsey signing for nothing in January - pundit
Newcastle could have a “brilliant player” on their hands if they secure a deal for Aaron Ramsey in January, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, conceded the 30-year-old’s wage demands could be a stumbling block in negotiations.
According to Calciomercato (November 8th), Juventus are considering terminating Ramsey’s contract in January – with 18 months left to run.
As reported by Tuttosport (29 October), Newcastle have enquired about the midfielder’s availability as Eddie Howe plans his first signings in the January window.
The ex-Arsenal star scored 65 goals in 371 appearances for the Gunners – 40 of which were in the Premier League. He won three FA Cups in an 11-year spell at the club.
Hutton insisted Ramsey being available for a free transfer would present the Magpies with a big opportunity in January.

“As a free transfer, it’s an amazing option,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“The fact that they won’t have to splash the cash will be a big positive because he has had a lot of injuries, he’s really struggled during his time at Arsenal and Juventus.
“But in there is a brilliant player if you can keep him fit and get him going.
“The biggest fear there would probably be the wage demands if it were to be a free transfer.”
Ramsey has played just 112 minutes of football for the Old Lady this season.
According to Transfermarkt, the Wales international has suffered seven different injury problems during the last two seasons.
