Newcastle told to complete Harvey Barnes signing at £20m discount after source’s reveal – Agbonlahor
Newcastle look set to build upon their signing of Sandro Tonali by also bringing in Harvey Barnes.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed the Leicester winger would be an ideal signing for Eddie Howe’s side.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (7 July) that the Magpies and manager Eddie Howe are pushing to complete a deal for the 25-year-old this summer.
He managed a healthy return of 13 goals and three assists in 40 games across all competitions last term – despite Leicester’s relegation to the Championship.
With Barnes like looking he is set to become a Newcastle player, Agbonlahor believes that the Englishman will be a good fit for Howe’s team next season.
“I think he will adapt to playing at a high level,” He told Football Insider.
“Newcastle don’t want to go out and spend £200million in this transfer window so they’re doing right.

“He’s player that could have cost £50million if Leicester stayed in the Premier League, but them getting relegated means that Barnes is a £30million player, similar to how James Maddison was £40million.
“I really like him, he’s direct, he likes to take people on and sometimes he can be a bit irratic with his finishing, but if they could fix that and coach him, and help him, there’s no reason why he can’t be a regular on that left-hand side, and they need squad depth, so I think it’s a great signing I really like him.”
