Newcastle are set to sell flops Henri Saivet, Emmanuel Riviere and Florian Thauvin in the summer, according to a report.

The Mirror claims that the Toon trio are destined for the exit door at St. James Park, after all three players were shipped out on loan in the summer.

Saivet, who moved to the north East from Bordeaux, is currently on loan with Ligue 1 outfit St. Etienne where he has starred in his 18 league and cup appearances.

Despite his impressive performances for Les Verts, the 26-year-old is now set to leave Tyneside with his future at Newcastle over.

Similarly, winger Thauvin has starred for Marseille and is now set to link up with attacker Dimitri Payet following the France international’s return to his former club from West Ham.

Having a had in 11 goals, the 24-year-old has sparkled in his 27 league and cup encounters. Scoring six and providing five in assists, Thauvin is set to be sold despite his impressive form.

However, former Monaco and Toulouse striker Riviere is set to be offloaded as he fails to find the kind of consistency that earned him a move to the Toon in the first place.

No goals and a red card at La Liga side Osasuna during his 12 appearances, Riviere is set to be axed along with Thauvin and Saivet as manager Rafa Benitez looks to unload their dead wood.

Football Insider verdict:

With all three players set to be on large contracts after big-money moves to Tyneside, offloading them will give Spaniard Benitez more manoeuvrability in the transfer market in the summer. Whether the Toon are in the Premier League or in the Championship, Benitez will be able to improve his side after a frustrating January that the Mirror claims has put chief scout Graham Carr’s job in doubt. Using the money from the sale of the three stars, Benitez could bring in multiple players that could help the Toon avoid relegation as they close in on an instant return to the Premier League.
