Newcastle transfer news: Antonio Rudiger tipped to make club ‘title contenders’ after £300,000-a-week update
Newcastle United can beat top clubs to sign Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger this summer.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the German’s future.
On Tuesday (8 March) The Telegraph reported Newcastle are prepared to battle Real Madrid in the race for Rudiger with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider today that Rudiger is seeking a contract worth around £300,000-a-week.
The 29-year-old has been a key player for the Blues this season, only missing two Premier League games.
However, Rudiger is now unable to sign a new contract in any case after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government (9 March), meaning Chelsea cannot agree any new deals.
Kenny sees no reason why Newcastle can’t enter and win the race for the Germany international.
“I mean, why not? It would take some doing but there is a pulling power at Newcastle,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“They look like they are going to be safe and that they will improve again in the summer.
“There is no reason why Newcastle can’t offer more money than anyone else.
“They are a team on the up and it’s a great project to be apart of. He could turn them into title contenders.
“Money talks, even if he does just come for the money, he would be a brilliant addition.”

Newcastle made three additions to their defence in January.
Dan Burn, Matt Targett and Kieran Trippier all joined the club.
