Newcastle transfer news: Ex-PL CEO has update on Bruno Guimaraes ‘offers’

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes will receive “Champions League offers” this summer.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted “money talks” with the Magpies facing the 2024-25 campaign without European football.

Football Insider revealed last week (28 May) that Newcastle are adamant Guimaraes will remain at the club despite their failure to secure European qualification.

Arsenal, Man City and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in the Brazil international, who is available via a £100million release clause until the end of June.

Guimaraes penned a new contract at Newcastle in October 2023, keeping him at the club until June 2028.

He made 48 starts in 50 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, notching seven goals and 10 assists.

‘Money talks’ with elite clubs expected to approach Newcastle for Guimaraes

Wyness insisted the midfielder will have offers to leave St James’ Park, but could elect to stay on Tyneside.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Newcastle will want to keep hold of as many as they can.

“Maybe next year is the time for more rebuilding, rather than this year – they need the stability.

“That’s where they will focus.

“However, without European football – some players may be drawn away.

“The players love it up in Tyneside with the fans and the atmosphere, it’s hard to leave but money talks.

“Some players will be offered Champions League football, like Bruno Guimaraes in particular.

“But I have a feeling they will stay for next season. There’s new blood coming through, and the rebuild will be gradual – but they’ve got the right plans in place.”

In other news, Newcastle have agreed defender signing – it’s a “done deal”.
